This week, December 7-13 is National Flu Vaccination Week

Our Medical Director Dr. Tugetman says: “The CDC recommends that there should be no missed opportunities for giving the flu vaccine.” Watch his AFC Urgent Care Medical Minute Do I Have the Flu to determine if you are suffering from the flu, or a bad cold.

The CDC says this about this years flu predictions:

“Early data suggests that the current 2014-2015 flu season could be severe. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) urges immediate vaccination for anyone still unvaccinated this season and recommends prompt treatment with antiviral drugs for people at high risk of complications who develop flu.  So far this year, seasonal influenza A H3N2 viruses have been most common. There often are more severe flu illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths during seasons when these viruses predominate.”

If you have not already gotten your flu shot already, National Flu Vaccination Week, this week,  is the best time to do so. Many area clinics and drug stores have run out of the vaccine, but we still have it at AFC Urgent Care Hartsdale. If you have flu like symptoms it is important to come in and be treated with an ant-viral medication, which we also carry.

Should you have any questions about the flu vaccine, please don’t hesitate to call us and speak with one of our providers at 914 448 2273
